In 2021, a group of young musicians took over local bar Bedlam and Squalor to bring live classical music to their community post-pandemic.
Over two and half years, they staged over 36 shows featuring more than 150 local musicians. Each night offered new collaborations, new music and new ensembles.
Pōneke Sessions became its own small whānau. It would not have been possible without my friends Lauren Jack, Ellen Murfitt, Kate King, Jack Welch and the team at Bedlam and Squalor.
